Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 12, 2026
At bqto.site we respect your privacy. This Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the Site, what we use it for, who we share it with and what rights you have. It complements our Terms of Use.
We handle your information in accordance with the personal data protection laws that apply in Barquisimeto.
1. Who is responsible
The person responsible for the personal information collected on the Site is the bqto.site team, who also acts as the person in charge of the protection of personal information. You can contact them at info@bqto.site.
2. Information we collect
- Account data: email address and password. The password is stored encrypted; nobody can see it, not even us.
- Contact person data: first name, last name, contact email and phone. This is not published; we only use it to communicate with you.
- Business data: name, category, description, keywords, website, business email and phones, WhatsApp, address, city, branches, hours, service area, fair dates, social media, logo and photos. This information is published in the directory, because that is the purpose of the service.
- Payment data: if you purchase the featured option, payment is made through PayPal. We do not receive or store your card or bank account details. PayPal sends us the order number, amount, payment status and the payer’s email.
- Technical data: the IP address of login attempts, which we use to block attacks, and server error logs.
- Visit statistics: when you visit a page, we record the date, the page, the referring page, your browser (user-agent) and your IP address. From the IP address we derive an approximate location (country, region, city and internet provider), never your exact address. We use this data only to understand how the Site is used, detect abuse and show each business how many visits its listing receives (as totals, without visitor data).
3. How we use the information
- To create and manage your account and let you edit your information.
- To publish your business in the directory, in Spanish, English and French.
- To review sign-ups and contact you about your listing.
- To process featured payments and keep accounting records.
- To protect the Site against fraud, abuse and unauthorized access.
- To send you the bqto.site newsletter, only if you agreed by checking the corresponding box. You can unsubscribe at any time from My business or by writing to us.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not use it for third-party advertising.
4. Consent
By creating an account and listing your business, you consent to our processing your information for the purposes described. Publication of your listing depends on the box “I authorize the publication of my business information”. You may withdraw your consent at any time; if you do, we will hide or delete your listing.
If you publish other people’s information (for example, an employee’s phone number), you must have their permission.
5. Who we share information with
- The general public: the business information published in the directory.
- PayPal: to process payments, under its own privacy policy.
- Technical providers: the web hosting and email services we need to operate the Site. They only access the information needed to provide their service.
- Geolocation service (ip-api.com): receives visitors’ IP addresses to return their approximate location. It receives no other data.
- Authorities: when required by law.
6. Information in other countries
The Site’s servers and some providers, such as PayPal or the geolocation service, may be located in other countries. There, your information may be subject to local laws and accessible to that country’s authorities. We take reasonable measures to ensure it is adequately protected.
7. How long we keep it
- Account and business data, while your account is active. If you ask us to delete it, we erase it within a reasonable time, except for what we must keep by law.
- Payment records, for as long as accounting and tax obligations require.
- Past fair dates are hidden from the Site and kept as your listing’s history.
- Login attempt and error logs, only as long as needed for the Site’s security.
- Visit statistics, for 365 days; after that they are deleted automatically.
8. Your rights
You can:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct or update it (you can do most of this yourself from My business);
- withdraw your consent and ask us to delete your account and listing;
- ask for a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used format;
- stop receiving the newsletter.
To exercise these rights, write to us at info@bqto.site. We will reply within 30 days at most. We may ask you to confirm your identity.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the data protection authority that applies in Barquisimeto.
9. Security
We protect your information with reasonable measures: encrypted connection (HTTPS), encrypted passwords, protection against repeated login attempts and restricted access to the administration panel. No system is completely secure. If an incident occurs that poses a risk of serious harm to you, we will notify you and report it to the authorities as required by law.
10. Cookies
The Site only uses the cookies it needs to work:
- bqtosite_sid: keeps you logged in. It is deleted when you log out or close your browser.
- bqtosite_lang: remembers the language you chose, for one year.
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If we add analytics tools in the future, we will update this Policy and, where required by law, ask for your consent.
11. Minors
The Site is intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. We will post the new version on this page with its date. If the changes are significant, we will notify listed businesses by email.
13. Contact
For any questions about this Policy or your personal information, write to us at info@bqto.site.
